If you feel uncomfortable or unsafe with any guest, you are in charge and it is your property so you can decide who may enter and stay. If you need to ask someone to leave, we suggest doing this firmly, but politely to avoid conflict or escalation. If you cannot get someone to leave, calling authorities to help is appropriate.

However, we do promote and encourage inclusive safe spaces where guests can feel welcome to shows without experiencing discomfort or discrimination without due cause. Delineating clear and respectful house rules is an easy way to set expectations for everyone without singling individual guests out, and also sets obvious boundaries in the rare occasion that someone needs to be spoken to.

Here’s a quick example of some typical house rules (but of course, every place is different so don’t worry if yours look different):

  • Treat others how you’d like to be treated

  • Help us clean as we go

  • Remember you’re here for the art

  • No drinking and driving

  • Downstairs bathrooms only

  • Only Hosts and Performers behind the merchandise table
