Using Stripe Connect, tax is collected from each Side Door show and remitted to the user, according to whether they have stated they will claim taxes in their Stripe Connect account. The total tax is subjective to each show - it is based on which parties are collecting tax, and according to the tax rate in the region that the show is taking place. Side Door incorporates tax into the price of the ticket when necessary and according to whether the Host or Performer collects tax. All this is reflected in the settlement and any expenses such as tax will be automatically deducted from the total ticket revenue. It is important to provide information on whether you are collecting tax in advance so the settlement can be administered accordingly. 

For example, if a Performer is not collecting tax but a Host is for a show in Ontario, the 13% HST will be charged on the Host’s and Side Door’s shares of the ticket cost (10% each by default), but not on the Performer’s share (80%).
